Staining on the Staining Grid is reported as a percentage of staining
AREA of the cornea. From the eye care practitioners point of view one of the most
difficult aspects of interpreting this study is to determine how clinically significant
are the various staining percentages reported. Few will argue that a 73% staining area is
acceptable. But, what about a staining area of 36%, 18%, or even 7%? The color-coding system
(red/yellow/green zones) utilized on this site translates a grid full of
percentages into a useful tool for your practice at a single glance.
